People who must work outdoors — on land, on water or at high altitude — are at especially high risk for all types of skin cancer. Many of them may not have access to sun protection and may not be aware of their risks. This includes construction crews, farm workers, park rangers, outdoor guides, lifeguards, professional athletes, traffic officers, pilots, members of the military and more. This informative card provides outdoor worker sun protection strategies.
In 2025, The Skin Cancer Foundation began an Outdoor Workers Initiative to raise awareness and provide educational materials and advice for these at-risk workers, as well as to advocate for change to help protect them from the world’s most common cancer.
Our 4- by 6-inch outdoor worker sun protection strategies card, in English or Spanish, is easy to fold and put in a pocket, and it includes a QR code to SkinCancer.org for more information. We encourage anyone who employs outdoor workers to distribute these cards!
